Piano CMC & Violin Ensemble Schedule

Appended below are the schedules for Mandeville’s Piano CMC & Violin Ensemble for students under Individual + CMC/Ensemble curriculum.

Registration for Piano CMC & Violin Ensemble timeslots will be available via the student portal from 11th January 2024, 2pm.

Slots are based on first-come-first-serve basis. Parents are advised to register for the CMC/Ensemble classes upon notification by their teacher. Parents/Guardians only need to register once for the CMC/Ensemble timeslots in an academic year.

Note:

  1. There are NO regular individual lesson during CMC/Ensemble week.
  2. CMC/Ensemble classes are from February to November each year.
  3. Please login to the student portal to view the dates.

 

Our Creative Musicianship Class (CMC) is a unique and highly specialized programme that is planned exclusively for students at Mandeville. It provides our students with a comprehensive foundation for securing a wide range of skills, necessary in developing as a complete musician.

There are 3 types of CMC classes:

  1. Regular CMC
  2. Choir CMC
    *For selected students only*Choir CMC is a new concept introduced in 2018 as part of the CMC, open to Foundation and Beginner students who love to sing in a group. On top of the syllabus taught under the regular CMC, students are taught on echo singing, rhythmic activities and singing songs accompanied by hand gestures. NOTE: Students are selected by their regular teacher to attend the Choir CMC.
  3. Keyboard Ensemble CMC
    *For selected students only* Open to Primary, Elementary and Intermediate-level students, the Keyboard Ensemble provides students the opportunity to perform together as a group. Assigned to various parts and a keyboard each, students learn to play together while listening out for each other to produce beautiful music. NOTE: Students are selected by their regular teacher to attend the Keyboard Ensemble.

Post Grade 8 Above Grade 8 Music appreciation, general musical knowledge, repertoire study, analysis, technique and performance etiquette
Choir CMC Foundation and Beginner level students Music appreciation, general musical knowledge, music theory, aural, technique and performance etiquette. Choir students will be prepared to perform in our Mandeville concert.

Mandeville strongly believes that the most beautiful music is created when musicians play together. Our Violin Ensemble is designed to bring our students together to learn and play like in an Orchestra.

Violin Ensemble is a unique and highly specialized programme that is planned exclusively for students at Mandeville. It provides our students with a comprehensive foundation for securing a wide range of skills, necessary in developing as a complete musician.

We offer 2 types of Violin Ensemble:

  1. Regular Violin Ensemble
  2. Chamber Music
    *For Advanced / Grade 7 and Above ABRSM students only*Initiated and led by Mr Dang Thanh Trung since 2018, the Chamber Music provides students the opportunity to work intensively and perform chamber music repertoire in small intimate groups such as Piano Trio, String Quartet and a small Chamber Orchestra. Open to Advanced students, the focus of the Chamber Music program is to develop a greater understanding of timbre, texture, balance, interpretation while strengthening students’ collaborative and listening skills.NOTE: The Chamber Music programme is part of the regular Violin Ensemble. Advanced students may select to attend Chamber Music or Advanced Violin Ensemble as part of their curriculum.
