Piano CMC & Violin Ensemble Schedule

Appended below are the schedules for Mandeville’s Piano CMC & Violin Ensemble for students under Individual + CMC/Ensemble curriculum.

Registration for Piano CMC & Violin Ensemble timeslots will be available via the student portal from 13th January 2025, 2pm.

Slots are based on first-come-first-serve basis. Parents are advised to register for the CMC/Ensemble classes upon notification by their teacher. Parents/Guardians only need to register once for the CMC/Ensemble timeslots in an academic year.

Note:

  1. There are NO regular individual lesson during CMC/Ensemble week.
  2. CMC/Ensemble classes are from February to November each year.
  3. Please login to the student portal to view the dates.

 

Our Creative Musicianship Class (CMC) is a unique and highly specialized programme that is planned exclusively for students at Mandeville. It provides our students with a comprehensive foundation for securing a wide range of skills, necessary in developing as a complete musician.

There are 2 types of CMC classes:

  1. Regular CMC
  2. Keyboard Ensemble CMC

General Outline

Foundation For those who had just started learning the piano Introduces music basics through fun group activities, focusing on rhythm, melody, aural skills, proper hand positioning, and basic techniques while building confidence in performance etiquette
Beginner Pre-Grade 1 Builds on foundational knowledge with beginner,exploring musical concepts, musical patterns, and aural skills, while focusing on finger technique, control, and performance preparation
Primary, Elementary Grade 1-4 Designed for Grades 1-4, focusing on technical proficiency, theory, and aural skills, while emphasizing expressive interpretation and stage readiness
Intermediate & Advanced Grade 5-8 Focuses on challenging repertoire, advanced techniques, and expressive phrasing, while integrating theory and musicianship for stylistic interpretation. Prepares students for high-level performances
Post Grade 8 Above Grade 8 Focuses on in-depth repertoire study, technical refinement, and collaborative interpretation to enhance musical expression and precision. Prepares groups for advanced performances
Piano Duet/Folk Art Grade 3 & Above Piano Duet /Folk art explores the art of two pianists playing together, creating a rich, layered soundscape. It enhances musicality through improved rhythmic precision, dynamic control, and musical awareness, with a repertoire that includes classical, contemporary pop, and folk music

The course provides students the opportunity to work intensively and perform chamber music repertoire in small intimate groups like piano trio, string quartet to a small chamber orchestra. The focus of the programme is to develop a greater understanding of timbre, texture, balance, interpretation while strengthening students’ collaborative and listening skills.
